TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County employees who are experiencing coronavirus-related hardships will be allowed paid time off following a Tuesday decision by county commissioners.
“We trust that employees will use their best judgment in this situation,” commissioners said.
What is considered a hardship is “for the affected employee to decide,” according to Commissioner Brendan Kearns.
Commissioners acknowledged the need for many departments, such as public safety and 911 dispatch, will need to continue operations, which “may result in creative scheduling.”
Commissioners also encouraged all departments to implement procedures that would limit person-to-person contact during the pandemic.
