VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — While there have been no positive coronavirus cases in Vigo County, testing has been limited to only patients who meet the criteria.
Barry Nicoson, coordinator for emergency preparedness at Union Hospital, said patients must be hospitalized and have respiratory issues before a test will be implemented.
Once a test is taken, results can take three to four days to come back.
“There’s over 167,000 cases worldwide and in the United States has gone up and if we don’t practice social distancing, we need to wash our hands … and not touch our face, we need to not shake hands, not hug … six feet is a good number,” Nicoson said.
Union Hospital recently set up a tent to keep potential coronavirus patients isolated from other patients. Nicoson said the tent is essentially a mobile emergency room. A practitioner will tend to potential patients inside the tent to keep them separate from hospital patients.
