Public access to Vigo County facilities limited to prevent spread of COVID-19

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County officials are hunkering down as COVID-19 concerns continue to rise.

County Commissioners Wednesday restricted public access to the Annex. According to a press release, all departments within the building will be available by phone or email. For contact information, residents should visit the Vigo County website.

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office also restricted public access. For urgent business, the office area will remain open during regular business hours; however, residents are asked to make any non-emergent reports via a phone call at (812) 232-3801.

The sheriff’s office said to visit buycrash.com to purchase copies of an accident report. To request and incident or case report, email reports@vigosheriff.in.gov. The email should include the requestor’s name, date of incident and case/incident number being requested.

Property will not be released from evidence without a court order. Call (812) 462-3226 with any questions.

All tax warrants will need to be paid online or by mail: Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, 201 Cherry St., Terre Haute, IN 47807.

According to Vigo County Commissioners, other county office have established specific rules to meet their needs. It is recommended to call those facilities before attempting to visit.
