VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Eligible Vigo County residents struggling to get a vaccine appointment could be in luck.
Wabash Valley Health Center has been added to Vigo County as a COVID-19 vaccine site, and, according to Vigo County Health Department media coordinator Roni Elder, appointments at the new location are currently available.
Eligible residents are those ages 70 or older or who work in healthcare. Since the standard was lower to 70 or older, the state has seen 125-thousand sign-ups in a week.
The Vigo County Health Department has vaccinated around 60 people per day since they began vaccinations.
Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling 211.
Roni said she expects more locations and appointments to be added. Continue following MyWabashValley.com for updates.
“That makes me believe that there’s enough vaccine for them to keep this flowing and that we should be moving through the phases pretty quickly,” said Elder. “Hopefully they will start to roll out younger ages as we continue to see more clinics pop up and more vaccines come into our county.”
