INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health on Wednesday announced that 740 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19, bringing the state total to 69,975.
Locally, Vigo County added another 19 cases overnight while Sullivan and Vermillion counties each reported five new cases Wednesday. Parke (1), Knox (3), Daviess (2) and Clay (1) also reported additional cases.
The 7-day positivity rate for the state is 7.4%; however, several local counties are showing significantly higher rates. The 7-day positivity rate for Daviess County is 13.2%, Knox is at 11.9% and Vigo is at 11.6%. The most recent data is from July 23 through July 29.
A total of 2,805 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 12 over the previous day.
Another 202 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.
As of Wednesday, more than 32 percent of ICU beds and nearly 82 percent of ventilators are available across the state.
To date, 792,225 tests for unique individuals have been reported to ISDH, up from 785,018 on Tuesday.
