SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two new COVID-19 deaths were reported in Edgar County Friday as the state death toll rose by 20 to 8,411.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Edgar County deaths were of a male in his 60s and a female in her 70s. The county has reported a total of five deaths since the start of the pandemic, with its first two deaths reported two weeks ago on Sept. 3.
The IDPH on Friday also reported 2,120 new confirmed cases statewide for a total of 270,327 cases.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from September 11 – September 17 is 3.6%.
Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 61,918 specimens for a total of 4,982,856.
As of Thursday night, 1,481 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 329 patients were in the ICU and 149 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
