TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank will be distributing pre-packaged food and hygiene products to students and their families in response to school closures due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Hygiene containing items such as shampoo, bar soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste will be distributed from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Terre Haute North High School.
Agency Director for Catholic Charities, John Etling said, their organization is trying to get the word out about these events to reach as many people as they can.
“There will be more of these, so if people don’t make it out today [Thursday] there will be another opportunity next week, and the following week.
He continued, bags for junior high and high school students will contain additional items like deodorant and feminine hygiene products.
Pre-packaged bags of food will also be distributed. These contain items such as canned fruit, vegetables, meat and soups or stew in addition to dry goods like pasta.
Catholic Charities also asked the community to support this effort by providing personal hygiene products for future distributions.
“We just want to make sure we are doing everything we are possibly able to while we are still coming to work and distributing food.”
An Amazon Wishlist has been created with the items most needed. The items will be delivered directly to Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank.
