There’s some exciting news at Ivy Tech Community College. Today, the institution announced that it has reached an important fundraising goal that will enchance education opportunities.
Over 2.5 million dollars, has been raised for the Precision Agriculture and Heavy Duty Diesel facility. The effort will help the college launch the program and fund state of the art equipment, as well as help fund renovations to the 26,000 sq. ft. Center of Excellence.
“It shows the need that exists in our community that we can help support workforce development and drive the industry of precision ag and diesel technology right here in our backyard at Ivy Tech,” said Lori Danielson, Chair of Board of Trustees.
“If you’re really passionate about agriculture and really want to get into the science, not just the grunt kind of labor work, this is definitely something that will boost you up,” said Austin Smith, Ivy Tech student.
The program will allow Ivy Tech to keep pace with Indiana’s growing workforce demand. Each program has capacity for 80 students. Also, a new scholarship has also been established for students in the Precision Agriculture Equipment Technology program.
