TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An inmate at the federal prison in Terre Haute died Thursday, according to prison officials. This marks the third death at the facility this month.
Thirty-eight-year-old Jeremy Daniel Carpenter was pronounced dead Thursday morning after being found unresponsive by prison staff.
There is not current indication the death was COVID-19 related, according to a news release from the prison.
Carpenter was sentenced to 115 months in prison for bank robbery. He had been in custody at the Terre Haute facility since November.
The prison announced its first COVID-19 death earlier this week. The facility is currently reporting three active coronavirus cases.
Another inmate died May 5 from causes not suspected to be due to the coronavirus.
