TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Humane Society more than doubled their goal during this year’s fundraiser.
The total amount of dollar raised as of this evening was $42,186 and that number may continue to grow.
Staff with the humane society tell us this money will help keep their doors open, especially now during the pandemic.
The goal was to raise $20,000 which would surpass last year’s record breaking amount of money raised at $17,000. So this was a big step up.
“We had a goal of $20,000 for 2020 and then COVID happened and we didn’t know whether we were going to get any money, we didn’t know whether we were going to make ten and then people just stepped up the people in this community are fabulous. The people that support us, they come through every time,” Maggie Wheeler, volunteer coordinator for the Terre Haute Humane Society said.
Wheeler says the humane society will leave the donation option on their website for the next couple of days if you wanted to make a donation.
