TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – New federal court documents say Shane Meehan, the man charged in the shooting that claimed the life of Terre Haute Police Detective Greg Ferency, was transferred from the hospital to a jail.
The court ordered a defense counsel to file a status report every Friday regarding Meehan’s readiness to appear in court and fully participate in proceedings.
In Friday’s report, the defense counsel said they do not believe Meehan is currently medically able to appear in court and participate.
Meehan was charged with premeditated murder of a federal officer, accused of shooting and killing Ferency outside an FBI Field Office in Terre Haute. Authorities said Meehan drove himself to the hospital after being shot twice during an exchange of gunfire.
Court documents did not say which jail Meehan is being held at.
