TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The community came together while practicing social distancing Saturday to remember the life of a Terre Haute firefighter who died after contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.

A memorial service for John Schoffstall was held at the West Vigo High School parking lot.

Immediately following the service, the public had the opportunity to pay respects by driving by Schoffstall’s casket.
