PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Guests are already booking rooms at a newly opened hotel in Paris, Illinois.
Community leaders gathered at the new Hampton Inn Friday to commemorate the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“We’ve been looking for a hotel for many years. We’ve been out canvasing everything to try to find something and we were very fortunate to get with Steve Horvey and his company to put out a quality product,” said Paris city commissioner Hughes.
According to Hughes, Paris has needed a new hotel for the past 10 to 15 years to help accommodate local manufacturing companies as well as other visitors to the area. After working with Steve Horvey, who owns other hotels in Illinois, the city was able to make the new Hampton Inn a reality.
“I was encouraged to come down and at least talk to them and I did and they were convincing. I love Hampton,” said Horve. “This is my fourth one and we’ve had a really good luck with Hampton.”
Horve’s construction company took just over a year to complete the project.
The new four-story hotel offers 72 rooms, including eight extended-stay suites. It also includes a fitness center and business center as well as a continental breakfast. A pool will eventually be part of the facility; however, it is currently under construction.
