More than 3,000 new COVID-19 cases reported in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health on Friday announced 3,137 new cases of coronavirus disease in the state, the largest one-day increase to date.

One hundred five additional deaths were also reported.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 56,055 cases, including 2,457 deaths, in 97 counties in Illinois.

Edgar County remains one of five counties without a confirmed case.

Other local county totals as of Friday were:

  • Clark – 5 current
  • Crawford – 6 current, 4 recoveries
  • Jasper – 28 current, 5 deaths, 11 recoveries
  • Lawrence – 3 current
  • Richland – 1 current, 2 recoveries

Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have processed 14,821 specimens for a total of 284,688.
