Illinois health officials report nearly 2,000 new coronavirus cases

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health on Monday announced 1,980 new cases of coronavirus disease in the state. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 45,883 cases in 96 counties in Illinois.

Fifty additional deaths, including a third death in Jasper County were also reported Monday. To date, 1,983 Illinoisans have died of the virus.

Local totals as of Monday were:

  • Clark – 4 current
  • Crawford – 10 current
  • Edgar – 0 cases
  • Jasper 39 current, 3 deaths, 1 recovery
  • Lawrence – 3 current
  • Richland – 3 current

Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have processed 12,676 specimens for a total of 227,628.
