VIGO Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One person has died after a two-vehicle crash in New Goshen Sunday morning.

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 11 a.m. on State Road 63 & Durkees Ferry Road.

They said a red truck failed to slow down to cross State Road 63, when it crashed into a white pick-up truck.

According to the sheriff, the white truck flipped several times, throwing the driver from the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office said the driver of the white truck was flown to a hospital in Indianapolis where they were pronounced dead.

The Vigo County School Corporation identified the driver as David Hoffa, a teacher and coach at Honey Creek Middle School.

According to VCSC, Honey Creek Middle will have counselors at the school when classes resume on Tuesday.

The Vigo County School Corporation, with great sadness, is remembering the life of David Hoffa. Hoffa, a teacher and coach at Honey Creek Middle School, died in a car accident on Sunday, January 19.

As a physical education teacher and committed coach, Mr. Hoffa touched the lives of many children, parents, and teachers in Vigo County. Hoffa taught and coached in Vigo County for 35 years, working at Lost Creek Elementary School, then Honey Creek Middle School. He will be greatly missed, and we hold his family, friends, and colleagues in our hearts.

School and Hamilton Center counselors, as well as faith-based leaders, will be available to support students and staff at Honey Creek Middle School and Terre Haute South Vigo High School when school resumes on Tuesday, January 21, and throughout the week.
