CHICAGO — Gov. JB Pritzker on Friday said he would consider reopening regions of the state prior to May 30 if they have shown a decline in infection rates and ICU occupancy for 14 straight days.

These regions would be by Illinois Department of Public Health medical regions, not by counties.

“We have to get past the peak, downstate or elsewhere,” he said.

As part of Pritzker’s revised order that took effect Friday, now considers “the free exercise of religion” as an “essential activity.”
