Erratic driving ends in charges for Indiana man

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — One person was arrested late Friday morning after leading Terre Haute police on a pursuit.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle at Center and Oak streets due to erratic driving and running a stop sign. The driver, later identified as Jason Nelk, 38, of Freetown, Ind., fled the scene, leading police on a chase that ended at 13 1/2 and Franklin Streets when he exited his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Officers caught up with Nelk and were able to take him into custody.

Nelk was charged with leaving the scene of a crash, multiple counts of resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving while suspended.

He was transported to the Vigo County Jail pending.
