TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A staff member at Honey Creek Middle School who was on school grounds during their infectious period has tested positive for COVID-19, and contact tracers have worked to identify and quarantine close contacts within the school community.
“The Vigo County School Corporation will continue to enforce mitigation procedures to protect our community and we will notify the community when a case of COVID-19 is present in our schools,” Bill Riley, Vigo County Schools Director of Communications, said.
The school corporation last week announced the district would delay the start of school by one week with the first day scheduled for Aug. 18 instead of Aug. 11.
Two other individuals connected to the school previously tested positive–an employee at Terre Town Elementary and a graduating senior who took part in a graduation ceremony.
Vigo County has reported a total of 528 COVID-19 cases and 10 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
