EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — On the day Illinois began easing restrictions on the stay-at-home order, Edgar County announced its first confirmed case of the coronavirus.
Until Friday, Edgar County had remained one of only two Illinois counties without a confirmed case.
According to the Edgar County Public Health Department, the resident is in home isolation and is recovering. Health officials are currently identifying and contacting all close contacts.
“Everyone should consider themselves at risk for exposure to (the) coronavirus and should stay home as much as possible,” a news release from the health department said. “While at home, everyone should self-monitor which means to monitor for fever and remain alert for cough, shortness of breath or sore throat.”
