TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: Terre Haute Police have released more information regarding a death currently under investigation.
According to THPD Sgt. Justin Sears, Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of S. 7th Street at 1 a.m. on Thursday. While officers were able to speak to the victim about an altercation that reportedly had taken place, the victim died after being taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Friday, an autopsy reportedly returned preliminary results showing that the victim went into cardiac arrest while at the hospital and was unable to be revived.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of family.
Sears said the incident is being actively investigated, and that more information will be released as the investigation permits.

Thursday around 1 a.m., officers went to the 1000 block of South 7th Street for the report of an altercation. Officers spoke briefly with the victim before he was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
While receiving treatment at the hospital the victim passed away.
Officials say further information will be released as the investigation permits.
