COVID-19 in Illinois: State health officials report 593 new cases, 55 additional deaths

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Public Health on Thursday announced 593 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease throughout the state, including 55 additional confirmed deaths.

One new case was reported in Lawrence County for a total of five cases since the start of the pandemic.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 134,778 cases, including 6,537 deaths, in 101 counties. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. 

Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 25,504 specimens for a total of 1,283,832. 

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from June 11–June 17 is 3%. The positivity rate for those tested in the Central Region is 1%. All regions remain on track to move to Phase 4 on June 26.

Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, IDPH is now reporting both confirmed and probable cases and deaths on its website
