COVID-19 in Illinois: Positivity rate continues to decline

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health on Sunday announced 867 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in the state, including 43 additional confirmed deaths.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from May 31–June 6 is 5%. The positivity rate in the Central Region is 1%.

Currently, all regions are on track to enter into Phase 4 of reopening on June 26.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 127,757 cases, including 5,904 deaths, in 101 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. 

Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 20,700 specimens for a total of 1,042,774. 

Information is constantly being entered into an electronic system and the number of cases and deaths can change as additional information is gathered.  Information for a death previously reported has changed, therefore, today’s numbers have been adjusted.
