CLAY COUNTY Ind. — A Brazil man was killed Sunday after shots were fired during a domestic disturbance.
The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday on State Road 340 West of Brazil.
“At 2055 State Rd. 340 yesterday shots were fired. Upon police arrival, immediately into the residence, they observed a male that was shot,” Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames said. “Police checked the man for vital signs and concluded that there was no response. No first-aid was rendered. The man had succumbed to his injuries.”
According to Ames, security will be posted outside of the residence until more information is known about the circumstances surrounding the death.
An autopsy will be performed Monday afternoon at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Ames said the investigation could take a few weeks to conclude.
“Once we receive all the final information from the autopsy, will need to see if we need to get more information from the crime scene, if not we will secure and then turn the residence back over.”
He said once a report is written, ISP will then turn it over to the Clay County prosecutor’s office to see if any charges will be filed.
At this time the name of the male victim has not been released.
