TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A semi truck with a trailer that had a load that authorities believe was slightly higher than normal collided with a line hanging across U.S. Highway 41 Thursday afternoon, causing serious damage to the surrounding poles, Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse reported.

Several lines came down onto the roadway on 41 on Terre Haute’s south side, near 7th St.

According to Duke Energy representative Rick Burger, no power outages were reported following the incident. Plasse said the line downed by the semi is believed to be fiber optic.

All lanes of traffic were temporarily blocked in the area. Several emergency crews were on scene.
