2 sent to hospital after 1-vehicle crash on I-70 near Terre Haute, passenger ejected from vehicle

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One person was ejected and another left entrapped following a one-vehicle crash on I-70 eastbound near at the 3 mile marker near Terre Haute, according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames.

A preliminary investigation by ISP found that Michelle M. Rowe, 57, of Muncie, Ind., was driving a 2001 Toyota on Interstate 70 eastbound near the three-mile marker, when her vehicle left Interstate 70 for an unknown reason.  Rowe’s vehicle then rolled several times, coming to a stop upside down and facing westbound in the eastbound lanes. A passenger in the vehicle, Lynn A. Morton, 43, of Athens, Tenn., was ejected from the vehicle. 

Rowe and Morton were transported to Regional Hospital for immediate medical treatment.  Injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.  

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor.  

Traffic was diverted at the 1 mile marker to US 40 into Terre Haute; however, authorities expected the road to be cleared quickly.
