Warriors hope winning ways continue

Bicknell, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The North Knox Warriors have their sight sets on a third straight winning season in 2021. They went 6-3 last season and return several offensive starters this year. Running back Rhett Sheren and wide receiver Holtman Doades are back along with a veteran offensive line. Sheren says they make it easy to run behind. “They’re just so good they’re like one of the best O lines I feel like in Southern Indiana possibly the state and have a lot of experience and physically they’re strong too so it just feels like again you can score a touchdown every play 10 yards a carry 1st downs every time it’s just an insane amount of confidence that I really like about them,” Sheren said.

Rhett’s best friend on the team is Holtman Doades. They’ve played football together since the 2nd grade and Holtman provides a speed burst to a team that won 6 games in 2020. Here’s what he says about the team’s goals this season. “You know one thing we always talk about is winning that sectional championship you know we’ve come so close the past couple years and you know just and you know just getting over that hump. (What do you think that would be like to win one here in your senior year) That would feel un-explainable,” Doades said.

Coordinating all this talent is Josh Chambers who enters his 7th season. He says the experience on the offensive line will be key to the team’s success this year. “You know you’ve got Landyn Worstell he’s a two year starter you have Dylan Bond who’s a two year starter both of them are juniors and then on the right side you have Beau Nolan who is a very physical football player as a senior and then you have Gunner Thompson at right tackle again a senior and then Robert Cross anchoring that at center,” Chambers said.

Add that up and it’s what allowed Sheren and Doades to combine for over 30 touchdowns, a total they could surpass this fall. North Knox opens the season on August 20th at Sullivan as they chase a third straight winning year.
