VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Vincennes University Trailblazers will get a chance to defend their NJCAA basketball title from 2019 in this year’s tournament. The Trailblazers were selected as an at large into the 2021 Junior College Tournament. They will take on Holmes Community College on Monday April 19th at 3 pm.

Head coach Todd Franklin says he’s looking forward to a chance to defend their title. “Anytime you’re defending your national championship it’s a good thing we hope we’re able to do that every year but you know it was very disappointing last year we were a day away from getting on the bus to defend it thought we had a good team with a chance to do it they were excited thought we had a great week of work so it was really disappointing with the COVID situation. It’s a completely different team we don’t have anybody on this team from that team so really it’s the first time for us in a long time we don’t have anybody back I think we’re getting better right now through this week so I think we’ve got a chance to go out there and do some damage,” he said.
