GREENCASTLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Travis Turpen has been named the new head boys basketball coach at South Putnam High School. Turpen spent 12 years as an assistant with Terre Haute South and Southmont.

The Sullivan graduate is excited for his first head coaching opportunity.

Travis Turpen says,”We are going to play very aggressive on both sides of the ball. Man to man defense or a lot of trapping. We are going to be aggressive and come after people. From an offensive standpoint, we are going to spread the floor, try to play downhill and get a lot of misdirection going and get layups or kick out for 3’s.”

“If you watched us play with Coach Saylor a few years ago at Terre Haute South, I love playing that kind of ball and we will work on developing some shooters and play fast, aggressive, and let the 3’s fly.”
