TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – On Friday the Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers became the first three NBA teams to re-open their practice facilities to players for individual workouts. The Indiana Pacers will wait until Friday May 15th to do so, due to the stay at home order which is still in place in Indianapolis. The Chicago Bulls may not return until early June, due to the stay at home order in Illinois which runs through at least May 30th.
When the players return testing will be a key. Dr. Rand McClain is the D.O. and Chief Medical Officer of LCR Health and says that is the path forward. “You’re not going to be able to eliminate the risk 100 percent it’s a matter of what amount of risk are we all willing to tolerate, all not us but the players the owners their families you know the people that are involved are going to have to make that decision and you know from there how far do you go how well do you design this but that said with continual testing you will identify those players sooner rather than later and you can go back and trace their contacts isolate those people test those people as well and then control it as quickly as possible,” he said.
