TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana State Sycamores will kickoff the college football season Saturday night at 6pm when they host Eastern Illinois at Memorial Stadium. It’s been a long wait for this team, but they are finally close to starting a new season and ending their football drought.
Head coach Curt Mallory says, “We are obviously anxious to play. We’ve talked about a slow burn. We have to play when the game starts. I thought we handled that pretty well. It’s been hot. Trainers and weight staff have done a tremendous job of keeping us hydrated. We had a good practice today, had a good practice yesterday, and we have to continue to get ready for the game on Saturday.”
Junior defensive back Michael Thomas says, “It has been a long time. We are excited. The guys are excited. The defense is excited. We’ve been playing for a long time, practicing for a long time, practicing the same plays for a very long time so we are ready to go and to hit somebody else and communicate and to test ourselves and challenge ourselves and you know and to go play football.”
We will find out Saturday night starting at 6pm. Highlights of the big game on WTWO.
