Sycamores Down Braves in Four Sets

Indiana State volleyball picked up its second-straight Missouri Valley Conference win Monday night at the ISU Arena, defeating the Bradley Braves in four sets (25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19).
Junior Laura Gross continued her hot streak, leading all Sycamores (4-10, 2-0 MVC) with 15 kills and 17 digs en route to her 10th double-double of the season. Indiana State started the night hot, hitting .351 in the opening set while holding Bradley to just a .178 hitting percentage on their way to a 25-23 win.
The Trees would continue to pound the Braves as play continued, taking advantage of 10 Brave attacking errors in the second set to go up 2-0 with a 25-19 victory. BU would come out of the break ready to play though, hitting their highest percentage on the night at .261 to take the third frame 25-23.
Defensive pressure and key kills would help ISU to the victory as the frontline for the Sycamores would come away with three blocks in the set led by Cassie Kawa and Sarah Peterson who had two blocks each in the fourth. Gross and Kawa were nearly unstoppable in the fourth set as Gross connected on five of her 15 kills during the frame and Kawa put down three kills in four tries to lead the team to a 25-19 win.
