Sycamores begin football practice

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana State Sycamores hit the field Friday for their first official practice. ISU brings in big expectations to 2019 after falling just short of the playoffs last season.

Head coach Curt Mallory says,”We have not done anything yet. That has been the approach and it’s awfully nice to be ranked where we have been preseason. I made it very clear to this team, we have a long way to go. We have a lot of development to do and we are not nearly ready for that first game, but we are in a lot better position this year than we were last year. I had the seniors that have been here when we were 0-11 with the average score of 50-10 to stand up. They stood up this morning and we made it very clear. Those guys are ALL IN. Watch what they do. Follow those guys. That’s a perfect example of how this thing was built. We built it around those guys. Then we brought other young men in around them and that’s how it’s starting to come along.”
