TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana State football team held their annual golf fundraiser at Idle Creek Golf Course on Friday afternoon. Coach Curt Mallory said their goal was to sell 50 packages of foursomes and they ultimately sold 51. The money raised goes to feed the Sycamore football players.

ISU opens fall camp on July 30th. Before the season even starts, they suffered a loss with receiver and returner Dakota Caton. The Sullivan native tore his ACL on Wednesday and will miss the rest of the 2021 season. Coach Mallory said the news was tough to hear. “Well you know obviously a terrible break just feel so bad for Dakota he’s a champion he’ll be back, he’ll be back stronger, got a lot of football ahead of him and what he brings on the field he brings so much more off the field so but he’ll be right there cheering on his teammates when he comes back even stronger,” Mallory said.

Indiana State opens the season at home against Eastern Illinois on Saturday August 28th. That game is slated for a 6 pm kickoff. They then head on the road to take on Northwestern and Eastern Kentucky. After that a home game with South Dakota State follows on September 25th.
