ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – In what is likely the game of the year in the Wabash Valley, the South Vermillion Wildcats rallied to beat Parke Heritage 51-44 on Friday night. South Vermillion took a 35-28 lead at the half when Anthony Garzolini handed off to Joey Shew for a touchdown. In the 4th quarter Parke took the lead when Christian Johnson ran a short score in, the ensuing 2 point conversion made it 36-35 Wolves.
South Vermillion answered with Anthonio Nieves, his 20 yard touchdown coupled with a 2 point conversion made it 43-36 Wildcats. Parke came back when Johnson found Anthony Wood on a swing pass. Another 2 point conversion made it 44-43 Parke Heritage.
The final drive ended when Garzolini took the snap with the time winding down and plunged into the end zone with 10.4 seconds left. Parke had one final chance, but a lateral from Noble to Christian Johnson came up short when Christian was tackled on the 25 yard line. South Vermillion improves to 5-1 and goes to Fountain Central next week. Parke Heritage is 4-1 and hosts North Vermillion next Friday.
