CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The South Vermillion Wildcats (2-3) host the Parke Heritage Wolves (3-2) in a pivotal matchup for both teams on Friday night. The Wildcats and Wolves are coming off losses and will look to get back on track with a win.
South Vermillion won last year’s game at Parke Heritage in a shootout, 51-44 was the final. Anthony Garzolini scored on a quarterback keeper for South Vermillion. Wildcats head coach Greg Barrett is in his 5th season at the helm and says there is still a lot to be gained for South Vermillion this season.
“Just game by game getting better you know win a conference get in the playoffs and play your best football and see what happens the ultimate goal is a state championship and keeping these guys level headed I think that’s what it’s all about,” Barrett said.
On the other sideline Brian Moore is in his 4th season at Parke Heritage. The school was created after a merger of Rockville and Turkey Run. Moore says he’s pleased with the progress they’ve made. “The program is in place now and the kids know what to expect and that’s neat and these kids all four years the previous three and this year they’ve all done such a great job and the guys that we started with set the tone for us to have a great program they bought in from the get go and everybody just got along it’s been a family atmosphere ever since so yeah it’s pretty special,” Moore said. Game time is set for 7 pm at South Vermillion High School in Clinton.
