The Terre Haute Rex claimed their second Prospect League Championship on Saturday after beating Kokomo 4-3. The Rex win the series 2-0. Kokomo took a 3-0 lead in the 4th inning. Terre Haute rallied in the 5th when Austin Weiler hit a sac fly to score Roberto Enriquez, that cut the deficit to 3-1.
In the 7th inning the Rex loaded the bases with two outs for Lorenzo Elion. His single brought in Austin Weiler and Nelson Muniz to tie the game. The game would go to extra innings, in the 10th Craig Shepherd led off the frame with a walk. With two outs Drew Ashley came to the plate and delivered the biggest hit of the season. His single allowed Shepherd to score and give the Rex a 4-3 lead.
In the bottom of the 10th Conor Steinbaugh retired the side in order, the final out being a fly out to right field by Colin Butkiewicz. Tyler Hagedorn got the start going 4 1/3 innings with seven hits and three earned runs. He was relieved in the 5th by Hunter Kloke who went 3 2/3 and only one hit allowed.
In the 9th Connor Taylor came on to pitch and gave up a single. He was relieved by Steinbaugh who finished the final two innings. The Rex also won the Prospect League Championship in 2015.
