Rex top Champion City on Thursday


TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Terre Haute Rex defeated Champion City 4-3 in game one of a doubleheader on Thursday evening. Cole Gilley was great on the mound, going five and two-thirds innings and striking out 11. He allowed only one hit and one earned run in the victory.

Offensively Alec Brunson hit a three run homer in the 3rd inning, his 13th of the season. Austin Morris singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 6th after Champion City tied the game at three. The win snaps an 11 game losing skid for the Rex.
