Rex sweep Champion City in doubleheader


TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Terre Haute Rex swept Champion City in a doubleheader on Friday evening at Bob Warn Field. The Rex won game 1 in extra innings when Alec Atkinson knocked in the game winning run in a 4-3 victory. The Rex were one out from winning the game 1-0 in the 7th but Champion City scored three runs to take a 3-1 lead. The Rex tied the game in the bottom of the 7th setting up Atkinson’s heroics.

In game 2 Jack Leverenz hit a two run homer in the 2nd inning while Atkinson and Dylan Janke each had three RBI’s to power an 11-7 victory. Up next the Rex will host Danville on Saturday at 6:30 eastern time.
