The Purdue Boilermakers advanced to the Sweet 16 by defeating the Butler Bulldogs 76-73 on Sunday in Detroit. They did it without Isaac Haas who was not cleared to play in the game by the NCAA.
Purdue announced Friday that Haas would need surgery. Now he’s hoping that some extra rest may allow him to play against Texas Tech on Friday. Redshirt freshman Matt Haarms started in Haas’ place and played 29 minutes, scoring seven points and collecting six rebounds.
Head Coach Matt Painter said Haas will hold off on having surgery while Purdue continues it run in the tournament. Tip off for Friday’s game is scheduled for 9:57 pm ET at TD Garden in Boston, Mass. This also marks the first 30 win season for the Boilermakers in program history.
