Prospect League cancels 2020 season

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The 2020 Prospect League season has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. There was hope for a 6 week season running from July 1st to August 15th. The decision was based on the varying guidelines for safety, protection and limits on public gatherings and travel across the five states that are home to Prospect League teams.

Prospect League President Bruce Rosselli says it was just not feasible to be able to play this summer. “Every team had a full roster we were ready to go, I had two new coaches coming in you know we had to deal with five governors in five states within our footprint to decide what the regulations are going to be and once we found out from Illinois where they’re a little bit behind all the other states in their regulations that was the tipping point and you just can’t take five teams out of 12 and still be able to have that travel worked out it just wasn’t going to work,” he said. They are hopeful for a return to action in the summer of 2021.
