SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods softball team is one of 40 programs heading to the opening round of the NAIA World Series.
“We are excited and we think this week down in Bowling Green we have a chance to compete with anyone. We have played a tough schedule this year so I think we are prepared,” says head coach Jim Walker.
“Getting ready for the World Series, I think what makes this year’s team so awesome is we really trust each other on the field and in the dugout. We know that the person to our left and to our right has our back 100% so we know what balls we are going to get and what balls they are going to get for us and it just makes our lives easier when we trust each other as much as we do,” says Lyric Krause.
“This team doesn’t give up, we fight to the very end. We have a strong lineup. Strong defense, strong pitchers, and a lot of people that contribute to the team so that’s what makes us different. We don’t give up and it’s nice to play on a team like that,” says Camryn Scott.
The No. 4-seed Pomeroys will face No. 1-seed Central Methodist University at Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Monday in a four-team double-elimination tournament.
