TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Ayden Mackie says, “I love being out here playing football with everybody. It’s the game we love.”

Ilias Gordon says, “I mean we are really just out here to have fun. Win or lose we are going to have a great time. It’s the last time some of us will be strapping up ever so we are just going to have a great time.”

Gabe Pirtle says, “There’s a lot of great guys out here and it’s been great to get to know everybody. LIke Ilias said, we are out here to have fun.”

What a week for the Wabash Valley’s best. Practice is well underway for the WVFCA All-Star Game Saturday night where these players get on final crack in a high school football game.

Zarik Chmielewski says, “It’s really fun out here and I think we are going to take the DUB on this one.”

Anthonio Nieves says, “So exciting to have a chance to play again especially being our last game of high school and stuff. We have a lot of great talent here. It’s going to be a good game.”

Jace Russell says, “The comradery between us is good. We are building that chemistry every single day and working hard. Trying to get a win on Saturday for sure.”

Hayden Switzer says, “I mean it’s pretty awesome. Having all of the guys on our team. All of the new guys. I have met a lot of people that I didn’t even know of. I just think it’s awesome. It’s a great thing for all of the schools.”

After a strange high school football season for many, football finally feels normal again.

Hayden says, “Dude no masks. I have missed it. I really have. Honestly it feels weird not having a mask and talking to you, but i think it’s awesome. Finally getting it all back to normal.”

Russell says, “Feels like we are back to normal. Just great to get everyone out here. No restrictions and everything like that.”

We are expecting plenty of fireworks from both sides Saturday night. As we all get back to football, even if it’s just for one week.

Gabe Pirtle says, “It’s a huge honor. I’ve seen a lot of people from Sullivan in past years that go to play in this and they talk about how much fun it is and how much of an honor it is. I’m just happy to be here.”

Hayden says, “Special opportunity. I am glad I got picked to do it. All of these guys are great. That team is great. This team is great. It’s going to be a good game I think.”

Ayden Mackie says, “It’s awesome to come out here and play with these good kids from different programs. We are out here having a good time and ready to roll.”
