TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Coach Billy Blundell and the Terre Haute North Patriots are ready to take on their rivals on Friday night. In fact the coach summed things up nicely with his shirt at Wednesday’s practice: If it’s important to you, you’ll find a way, if not you’ll find an excuse. The Patriots intend to find a way to finally beat their rivals on Friday night.
“We’re super excited it’s obviously a big game for us when we get to play our cross town rival have it back at Memorial Stadium makes it even more special we get to play on the nice turf field in front of thousands of fans we’re super excited we’ve had a good week of practice excited to get to Friday and show what we’ve been working on,” Blundell said.
For the team’s seniors it’s a final chance to beat South and reclaim the Victory bell. It’s something that means a lot to senior Sammy Saunders. “It would definitely be a way to go out senior year being the 50th anniversary of the Bell Game it’s a great time and place to do it especially me being a senior ring that bell and bring it home where it belongs,” Saunders said.
Another player excited to help accomplish that is senior Damon Sturm. He’s provided a spark like on his 86 yard touchdown just two weeks ago. Damon is looking forward to playing at the Stadium. “We are we haven’t got to do it before we don’t normally play on turf very often we’re used to grass so it’s something new. It would be amazing we need that bell for our seniors,” Sturm said. North and South play at 7 pm at Indiana State’s Memorial Stadium on Friday night.
