Notre Dame’s women’s basketball team are the 2018 national champions after a thrilling 61-58 victory over Mississippi State on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio. Arike Ogunbowale hit a three-pointer to beat the buzzer to deliver the second national title in school history, the first came in 2001.
The Irish trailed for much of the game. Mississippi State led 30-17 at the half and took a 40-25 lead in the 3rd quarter. They rallied to tie the game at 41 going into the 4th quarter. Game winning shots seem to be routine for Ogunbowale as she also hit the winner to beat UConn 91-89 on Friday. That marked the Huskies first loss of the season.
