TERR HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Terre Haute North and South split Wednesday’s track and field meet at North High School. The South boys were victorious 68-55 after 16 events. Meanwhile the North girls won 70-62. South’s Courtney Jones won all four of her events while North’s Khloe Hoar won the 100 and 200 yard dashes. South’s Parker Brown won the long jump in 19 feet 5 inches. North’s Dalton Sturm took the high jump in 5 feet 8 inches. The Braves Brayden Bender won the 100 yard dash in 11.45 seconds while North’s Eli Moody took the 200 in 23.40 seconds.

Following the meet both team’s coaches were happy to see their athletes back on the track. “The first time in a couple years that we’ve been able to compete so it’s a good win for us the girls are super excited we’ve had a lot of ups and downs the last couple years with COVID so they’ve been excited to just be able to compete,” said North girls coach Jennifer Russell.

South boys coach Jon Lee added his team’s reliance on senior leadership: “On the team 15 seniors this year so those kids who didn’t have a season last year they came in very motivated worked hard and those seniors on the top end are scoring a lot of points for us,” he said.
