Loogootee falls to Pioneer in state title game


INDIANAPOLIS – The Loogootee Lady Lions came up one point short in the Class A state championship game, falling to Pioneer 43-42 on Saturday afternoon at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Kylie Vanhoy led the team in scoring with 18 points and Brooklyn Jones added 12. Kalea Fleming had four points, including the go ahead basket that made it 42-41 Loogootee with 1:45 left.

Pioneer got a late basket from Ashlynn Brooke that turned out to be the game winner. The Lions had one final possession with 7 seconds remaining, but Fleming’s pass for Makenzie Vanhoy was picked off by the Panthers, who then ran out of the clock.
