INDIANAPOLIS (WTWO/WAWV) – Terre Haute native Tim Herrin is on the doorstep of the major leagues. Since he was four years old, Herrin has dreamed of playing major league baseball. Now he’s close to that goal with the Columbus Clippers, the Triple A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. Herrin has pitched in four and two thirds innings with four strikeouts.

He made his debut with the team after being called up from Double A Akron on May 24th. Herrin says it’s been a great experience so far. “It’s awesome I mean like you said it’s on the doorstep of the Major Leagues once you get here you’re literally one call away from realizing a dream I’ve had since I was four years old so it’s really exciting and I’m coming in just trying to keep doing what I’ve been doing all year and just kind of stay grounded right now,” he said.

Herrin added: “This time last year I was in single A baseball and now to already be in Triple A is really like I said one call away from realizing a dream and playing in the big leagues it’s really exciting. Tuesday night when I pitched I had 30 plus family friends just people here it’s really cool just to have that kind of support really it’s cool to just have people from Terre Haute kind of support their hometown player so it’s really cool,” Herrin said.
