TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana State Sycamores will travel to Purdue Saturday for an afternoon showdown against the Boilermakers. Indiana State has not matched up against a Big Ten opponent since 2016, but they have several upcoming on the schedule.

“It’s important. We have a lot of young men from the state of Indiana that get an opportunity to play a Big Ten school and I think that’s important for FCS and important for our football program,” says head coach Curt Mallory.

“I’m very excited. It should be high energy,” says linebacker Geoff Brown.

“Lot of people. I know that this team after losing a game that they thought they should’ve won last week, they will be coming out ready to claw, fight, and scratch for a win.”

The ISU defense gets to match up against one of the best offenses in the country.

“They have a great quarterback and lot of good skills so being a defensive lineman this is going to be a great challenge to go against a high-level quarterback,” says defensive lineman Kris Reid Jr.

The Sycamores should have a pair of weapons back on offense in Michael Haupert and Dante Hendrix.

“I’ve got the chance to play a couple of FBS teams and you get chills every time because this is a great moment for us,” says Hendrix.

“It’s going to be a great atmosphere. I’m really excited and I know this team is really excited.”

Kickoff is set for 4pm Saturday in West Lafayette.
