SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Freshman forward Juan Parra had as good a debut as anyone could have expected Tuesday evening, scoring both goals for the Pomeroys in a 2-0 win over Oakland City University. Parra’s older brother Jose provided the assist on his second score.
“It felt good,” Parra said of the team’s first match of the season. “In my first game, I scored two goals and that feels really good. Not only that but I feel like we played good as a team. We have good players, we have to keep working hard, but it feels good to play with my brother again, we played back in high school. We know each other, we know how we play so we know where we’re going to be and the goal is Nationals. The goal is always the highest and this year is gonna be the same, we just have to keep working towards that goal.”
Victor Villagomez provided the first assist, which came at 43:30 in the first half.
The Pomeroys will travel to play the University of St. Francis (Ind.) on Saturday.
